His First Million: The Tale of a Comic Czar is a short film on the man behind the first retail comic book store in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Doug Sulipa, and his shop Comic World.

The centrally located Canadian city developed a counter-culture of comics and collecting from the 1960s through the decades. Some of the biggest mail-order dealers in Canada were once in Winnipeg.

"Per capita, it was probably the number one comic city in Canada for 30 to 40 years,"  says Sulipa.

This award-winning short 16mm movie includes interviews with Sulipa and animated clips by CBC/Sesame Street contributor Andrew Schulz and was originally broadcast on TV in New Zealand.
